McDonnell-Douglas was a major American aerospace manufacturer that produced some of the most iconic commercial and military aircraft of the 20th century. The company was formed in 1967 through the merger of McDonnell Aircraft and Douglas Aircraft, two firms with a long history of aviation innovation.

One of the company's most famous products was the DC-9, a short-range jetliner that became a staple of regional airlines around the world. Another popular model was the MD-80 series, which featured improved fuel efficiency and a more spacious cabin.

In 1997, McDonnell-Douglas was acquired by Boeing, which integrated many of its products and technologies into its own lineup of commercial and military aircraft. Despite no longer operating under its own name, the legacy of McDonnell-Douglas continues to influence the aviation industry today.
